It’s the people & the conversations.
Jacqueline, (waitress, late 20’s) “I lived in Sarasota for a year, I so badly want to go back …My rose bouquet tattoo is my symbol for life's beauty, oh I love your tattoo, very cool!
Fritz, (maybe 70)
“I hear you I help, you must go through the arch on the left then pass two streets, go left through passage, it has oh what you call…oh furniture stores then you will be there. Next look for the lock boxes, don't stay downstairs too noisy (we stayed downstairs because it should be noisy!) go out back door back and back in sliding doors on the right…you will love the Hofbrauhaus!” PHEW!
We did love it, noise, music and all!
Marianne (so French!) from Geneva works with ITU. Michael worked with people in ITU while at Kodak so there were lots of commonalities. Hooked up on LinkedIn now.
The group from Italy, Francisco and the “plastic” lions. Amazed at how we travel, "so simple, you look simple and that is good!" (either everyone has very hearty handshakes here or my hands are wimping out! OW!)
Valter (mid 70’s) at bus stop in Salzburg. "What do you think of Trump, what do you think of Obama, what do you think of JFK?" He practically held our hands to get us to the Museum of Modern Art. Then it was closed! Of course, it’s Monday!
Ari, our host's Mamma from our Airbnb in Salzburg.
It's about Art. It is nothing less than amazing for me to see an original work of art, especially from those artists I have studied and loved.
It’s about the wow factor, the holy cows...
 |
| Holy Cow! Her boobie is still shining brass because of all the tourists who touch it. (no I did not.) |
 |
| Wow! the Gardens at Mirabella Castle and the fortress behind them. |
 |
| Wow! the antlers that hang from the ceiling of The cafe at the Museum of Modern Art in Salzburg. |
It’s about time away from home.
This trip is different.
We are doing a lot of sightseeing so we are walking hours and hours everyday, finding places, buses
and trains, getting lost, stumbling into unexpected markets and festivals. So much better than paying bills watching tv, cleaning house…now when our house gets dirty we just move to the next house!
It’s knowing that time can change, slow down, slow us down or even stand us still at any time.
Which makes some moments so precious that we will keep them with us forever
and some other moments simply drop away.
It’s about making a “home” where there is no home. So easy now because home is not where the car is or where the pictures on the wall are but where the hearts are.
It’s about our alone time, holding hands walking, not talking ( I know, hard to believe!)
It’s about the quiet evenings when we say….
...this was a good day
or
...today was so fun
or
...ugh today was tedious
or ....
Today was wonderful, thank you honey.
